How do I choose the right solution?

The owner of a villa was looking for a solution to his moisture problem in Marseille. Concerned about the preservation of his heritage, he had already undertaken work to solve the problem by installing mechanical ventilation by insufflation VMI®, by having the buried walls drained and sealed. Important and expensive work that was not enough to deal with the problem definitively.
After our intervention we find that the problem causing the disorders is a problem of rising damp and therefore cannot be treated, neither by drainage, by waterproofing and that the VMI® alone either.

• VMI® regulates the humidity in the volume of air to treat condensation problems. If we install a VMI® for a rising damp problem without first stopping this phenomenon, the ventilation will accelerate the evaporation of the walls and therefore accelerate the degradation of paints and other coatings.

• Drainage is a rainwater collector installed on the periphery of the building. One of the first elements that allows us to say that this does not come from rainwater is the analysis of mineral salts made and which confirms by their presence that the water comes from the soil and not from rainwater (because it is demineralized).

• When there are wet buried walls, it does not necessarily come from the earth. The buried wall has only one face of evaporation because on the other side there is the earth, that is why we can observe more damage on this type of wall. We also conducted a salt analysis and a reading of the electrical potential.

Making his diagnosis essentially visually can mislead you, it must be accompanied by analyses to confirm the real origin of the problem.
We were able to provide a definitive solution to this moisture problem in Marseille by installing a polarity inverter. The VMI® that has been installed has allowed the walls to dry out more quickly, but also to maintain a comfortable humidity in the dwelling. It’s an excellent complement to our polarity inverter.
